A Different Side of Canggu Life

In Canggu, it’s easy to assume why people come. Beach clubs. Parties. Surfing. Sunsets.
But not everyone experiences Bali the same way.
We met a woman from the UK. She’s been in Canggu for about a month.
And instead of chasing parties… she was looking for a book.
Not just any book but ones about self-development, psychology, and human behavior.
Something to read slowly. Maybe on the beach.
A Different Kind of Bali
For her, Bali isn’t just a holiday destination. It’s a place to slow down and reflect.
She shared something simple, but powerful:
“As a child, I always hated reading… it felt like a chore.”
But now, things have changed.
“Reading improved not just my knowledge, but how I write, how I think… even my vocabulary.”
Somewhere along the way, reading became something she chooses not something she avoids.
And Bali became the place where that shift continues.
An Unexpected Recommendation
When asked to recommend one book, her answer stood out:
“One of the best books I read was Why Men Love Bitches.”
At first glance, the title sounds harsh. But she explained it differently it’s about understanding relationships and how men and women think.
She also mentioned:
“The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck… it sounds vulgar, but it’s actually really insightful.”
Sometimes, what looks “too bold” on the outsideturns out to be deeply meaningful inside.
Where Should You Read?
Beach? Rice fields? Somewhere quiet?
Her answer was honest:
“It depends on the type of person you are… some people get distracted outside.”
It’s not really about the place. It’s about how you experience it.
Bali Is for Everyone
This story might feel small. But it reveals something bigger.
Because while many of us in Bali see traffic, crowds, and busy streets… someone else sees:
a place to learn about themselves
a space to grow mentally
a moment to slow down
even a chance to build new habits
Bali becomes whatever people need it to be.
Maybe We Forgot
Sometimes, it’s not that visitors don’t understand Bali.
Maybe we just forgethow many different ways Bali can be experienced.
“For me, Bali isn’t just a holiday… it’s a place to understand life better.”
And maybe that’s whypeople keep coming back.
So if someone says Bali is just for vacation, maybe they haven’t seen this side yet.
Because from just one person,we can already see:
Bali is not just a place. It’s a different experience for everyone.
And that might bewhat keeps Bali alive.
