This blog is based on the youtube post - Talking to Strangers in Canggu "Street Interview"
In the middle of a hot Bali afternoon, two girls stood under the sun something that might feel completely normal to us… but for them, it’s something they came all the way for.
One from France. One from Egypt. Only one week in Bali.
And already, something meaningful had happened.
The Bali We Often Take for Granted
When asked about their first impression, the answer was simple:
“I like the place, the rhythm, the sun… and everyone is lovely.”
The things we often overlook the warmth, the slow rhythm, the kindness
are exactly what stands out to them.
Even the heat we sometimes complain about…
“It feels like 50 degrees.”
…is something they laugh about and embrace.
Because back home, it’s winter. Snow. No sun.
Why Stay Under the Sun?
So why are they out there, in the heat?
Their answer says everything:
“We don’t have many days like this… so we get it all here.”
They didn’t come to escape the heat. They came to feel it.
For many travelers, Bali isn’t a place to avoid the sun it’s a place to reconnect with it.
The Moment They’ll Remember
When asked about their most memorable experience so far,it wasn’t a famous place.
Not a beach club. Not a tourist attraction.
It was this:
“We had a spontaneous gathering… dinner, drinks, dancing together.”
They had only known each other for about a week.
And in one night, they shared a full experience together.
Then they said something simple but powerful:
“Honestly, that’s the magic of the island.”
Bali Is Not Just a Place It’s a Feeling
What makes this story special isn’t what they did it’s how Bali made it happen.
In many places, people stay in their own circles. Plans are fixed. Interactions are limited.
But in Bali…
people meet, and somehow, they connect.
Naturally. Effortlessly.
Bali Is for Everyone
When talking about food, they said something interesting:
“Indonesian cuisine is as diverse as French cuisine.”
They didn’t expect Bali to adapt to them. They adapted to Bali and loved it.
From spices to culture, everything felt new…and welcoming.
Still Curious, Still Exploring
Even after a week, they felt like they had just started.
When asked where they’d go next:
“I would be curious to see the north… I heard it’s slower.”
They’re not chasing crowds. They’re curious about the quieter side of Bali.
The side we sometimes forget to appreciate.
A Reflection for Us
This simple conversation reveals something important:
The Bali we live in every day… is something special to someone else.
Not because it’s perfect but because it allows people to:
meet new people
slow down
enjoy simple moments
And maybe most importantly:
“The magic of the island… brings people together.”
So… Who Is Bali For?
The answer is simple:
For everyone.
For those coming from far away. For first time visitors. For people with no plans at all.
And also… for us.
Sometimes, we just need to see Bali through their eyesto appreciate it again.
