This blog is based on the youtube post - Why Do People From Big Cities Choose Bali? "Street Interview"
On a warm sunset evening near the beach in Kuta, we met a couple from Japan who had just finished their holiday in Bali. They were standing by the beach enjoying the view when they asked for help taking a photo together. That simple moment turned into a short conversation that revealed something interesting: in just one week, they had explored a surprising amount of Bali.
Their names were Kota and Haru, and they were already near the end of their trip. In fact, they only had one day left before returning to Japan. When people reach that moment in their journey, they often become more reflective about what they experienced. And their story showed just how much Bali can offer in a short time.
During their week in Bali, they didn’t just stay in one area. They traveled across the island, visiting places like Ubud, Kintamani, and even going all the way to Lovina in North Bali. For many visitors, that kind of journey already says a lot about their curiosity and adventurous spirit.
But one experience stood out the most.
A Lucky Moment in Lovina
When they visited Lovina, they joined a morning trip to see dolphins. Many people who go there hope to see dolphins, but it doesn’t always happen the way they imagine. Sometimes the dolphins appear far away, and sometimes visitors barely see them at all.
But for Kota and Haru, something special happened.
“We saw dolphins… very close.”
They smiled when they said it, as if they still couldn’t believe their luck. For them, that moment became one of the most memorable parts of their trip.
Sometimes travel memories are not about big attractions or famous landmarks. Sometimes they come from small, unexpected moments in nature.
A Trip Across Bali
Besides Lovina, they had also explored cultural areas like Ubud and the volcanic landscapes around Kintamani. Even with only a week on the island, they experienced different sides of Bali: beaches, mountains, temples, and wildlife.
Their journey quietly reminded us of something important: Bali is not just one place. It’s an island with many different experiences, and visitors who are willing to explore often discover much more than they expected.
If They Had One More Day…
Near the end of our conversation, we asked them a simple question:
"If you had one more day in Bali, what would you do?"
Their answer came quickly.
“Surfing.”
Even after traveling around the island and seeing dolphins in the north, they still wanted to try one more classic Bali experience: riding the waves.
We suggested a few places, including the famous cliffs of Uluwatu, which offer beautiful views alongside the surf. For travelers, there is always something new waiting even if the trip is almost over.
Bali Is for Everyone
What made this conversation memorable wasn’t just where they went, but how they experienced the island. With simple English and big smiles, they shared their journey in a humble and genuine way.
Their story is a reminder for all of us living in Bali: people travel from far away not only to see famous places, but to experience the island as a whole.
From dolphins in Lovina, to temples and mountains, to the dream of surfing one more time before flying home their short holiday was filled with moments that many visitors will remember for years.
And perhaps that’s the beauty of Bali.
People arrive from different countries, with different languages and backgrounds, but they often leave with the same feeling: this island offers something for everyone.
So if you ever wonder why people travel so far to come here, just listen to their stories.
Sometimes, all it takes is one lucky moment with dolphins in the sea.
