On a warm afternoon in Bali, we met a couple from New Zealand. It was their first time here. They were on their honeymoon. No big party plans. No crazy bucket list. Just a quiet week together.
But what they experienced says something important, especially for us who live here.
When we asked how he would rate his Bali experience, he smiled and said:
“I’d say 9. Solid 9 out of 10.”
That’s already impressive. But what he said next matters even more.
“It’s actually the people that saved it. Real inviting.”
Not the beach clubs. Not the resorts. Not even the views.
The people.
What He Saw in Bali
In just one week, they explored:
Nusa Dua and the resort areas
Uluwatu and the cliffs
Beaches and mountain greenery
A bit of hiking
Even some monkeys along the way
He talked about:
“Nice views and nice sights.”“Real greenery.”“Good culture here.”
For someone coming from New Zealand, a country known for its peaceful nature and strong cultural pride, Bali still felt special.
He even compared both countries and said New Zealand is peaceful and cooler in temperature. But Bali offered something different: warmth. Not just in weather, but in people.
Bali Is Not Just for One Type of Traveler
They were on honeymoon. They wanted something calm and peaceful.
“We’re just doing everything nice and quiet.”
No loud party scenes. No extreme adventures. Just beaches, slow walks, and time together.
And Bali gave them that.
At the end of the interview, we asked:
“If you had one extra day in Bali, where would you go?”
He laughed and said:
“We’d want to check out Finns Beach Club.”
Even though their trip was quiet, they still saw Bali as full of options. That’s the beauty of this island. You can make it peaceful. You can make it exciting. You can make it romantic. You can make it adventurous.
Bali adapts to you.
For Us, the People of Bali
Sometimes, when you live somewhere long enough, you forget how others see it.
This couple traveled all the way from New Zealand for their honeymoon. And when asked what stood out most, it wasn’t luxury.
It was hospitality.
It was culture.
It was the feeling of being welcomed.
“It’s been a good stay and we’re sad to leave.”
Bali is not just for influencers. Not just for surfers. Not just for party-goers.
Bali is for honeymooners. For families. For hikers. For beach lovers. For quiet souls. For first-timers who are a little nervous.
Bali is for everyone.
So for us who call this island home never underestimate the power of a smile, a simple conversation, or a warm welcome. That might be the reason someone flies home saying, “9 out of 10.”
And maybe next time… 10.
