Why This German Traveler Keeps Coming Back to Bali

This blog is based on the youtube post - Why Do People From Big Cities Choose Bali? "Street Interview"

For many people in Bali, tourists come and go so quickly that it’s easy to forget how meaningful this island can be for someone visiting from far away. During a casual street interview in Kuta, Jamie and Ryan met a traveler from Germany who had been quietly enjoying Bali for nearly a month.

Unlike many travelers today, he didn’t have Instagram. No posts, no stories, no need to document every moment online. He was simply there to experience Bali.

And that’s exactly what he did.

Spending the Holidays in Bali

When asked how long he had been in Bali, he shared that he had stayed for around 26 days. That meant he had spent both Christmas and New Year’s on the island.

For many people from Europe, those holidays are usually spent in cold winter weather. But here in Bali, the experience is very different.

Instead of snow and freezing temperatures, he spent his days enjoying warm weather, beaches, and exploring the island.

“I stayed about twenty-six days… I spent Christmas and New Year here.”

For someone traveling from Germany, that alone is already a completely different kind of holiday experience.

Why He Keeps Coming Back

When Jamie asked why he liked Bali so much, his answer was simple.

“The beaches, the friendly people, and the good food.”

Sometimes the best reasons are the simplest ones.

Bali’s beaches offer space to relax, swim, and enjoy the ocean. But what many visitors remember most isn’t just the scenery—it’s the people.

For someone traveling thousands of kilometers from Europe, being welcomed by friendly locals can make the island feel surprisingly comfortable.

Discovering Bali Beyond the Beach

Even though he enjoyed beach life, he also explored other parts of Bali. One place that left an impression on him was Kintamani.

When he talked about it, he described seeing a large blue lake surrounded by mountains, a view very different from the busy beach areas.

“I went to Kintamani… there was a big blue lake.”

Experiences like this show that Bali isn’t just about one type of destination. From mountains to lakes to villages and beaches, every area offers something different.

A Simple Daily Routine

One of the most interesting parts of the interview was how he described his daily routine.

Instead of rushing around to check off famous locations, he preferred something much simpler.

“Around four or five in the afternoon I go to the beach… I swim and watch people.”

That’s it.

No complicated itinerary. No pressure to visit everything. Just enjoying the ocean and observing the world around him.

For many travelers, Bali becomes special precisely because it allows people to slow down.

Bali Is for Everyone

Stories like this remind us of something important.

People come to Bali from many different countries, cultures, and backgrounds. Some are surfers, some are explorers, and some are simply people who want to relax and enjoy life for a while.

But many of them leave with the same feeling.

Bali is welcoming.

This traveler from Germany didn’t come for social media, luxury resorts, or viral destinations. He came for the experience and he found it.

And that’s what makes Bali unique.

For people living in Bali, it’s easy to take the island’s beauty and hospitality for granted. But through the eyes of visitors like him, we are reminded that Bali is more than just a tourist destination.

It is a place where people from all over the world can feel at home.

And maybe that’s why so many travelers keep coming back.
